2025 unfolded for SYNTHIA as a journey through some of the most influential forums in healthcare, life sciences and data-driven innovation. From early engagement with AI, digital health and data innovation communities to more focused discussions on the technical, methodological and governance aspects of synthetic data, the project spent its first year listening, learning and positioning synthetic data as a credible and practical enabler for healthcare research and innovation.
Throughout the year, SYNTHIA’s outreach reflected a deliberate strategy to both embed synthetic data into the global healthcare and life sciences discourse and respond to domain-specific challenges. By entering the global arena, the consortium showcased its vision and methods at high-profile conferences, aligning with key stakeholders shaping the future of data-driven healthcare.
In parallel, deepening the dialogue in neuroscience and neurodegenerative research allowed us to engage directly with clinical experts and patient-focused communities, particularly around use cases such as Alzheimer’s disease, where data access remains a critical bottleneck. At a systems level, SYNTHIA made strides in connecting with the broader European health data ecosystem, from policymakers to EHDS stakeholders, contributing to debates on responsible data sharing, privacy, and innovation.
Finally, through targeted scientific sessions, we advanced the conversation on synthetic data methodologies, their legal and ethical dimensions, and their validation for clinical and AI applications—helping shape a trusted, evidence-informed path forward. Each event we participated in marked a step forward in shaping our understanding of real-world needs, expectations and challenges.
