WP6 drives the innovation behind SYNTHIA’s synthetic data generation (SDG) tools, ensuring they are scientifically robust, ethically sound, and ready to tackle real-world clinical challenges. This work package covers everything from requirement analysis and tool development to benchmarking and best-practice recommendations. 

The team will apply advanced models—like diffusion models, neural networks, and Bayesian methods—to generate synthetic datasets tailored to the specific needs of each use case. These will range from simple unimodal datasets to complex longitudinal multimodal ones. WP6 also ensures these tools are interoperable with SYNTHIA’s infrastructure and evaluates their performance under both centralized and federated learning settings. 

In close coordination with WP5, WP6 will adapt tools for secure, distributed computing, and with WP7, help define frameworks for evaluating privacy, utility, and quality of the generated data. Alltogether, WP6 forms the scientific backbone of SYNTHIA’s synthetic data innovation.
