We are proud to share that Prof. Dr. Holger Fröhlich of Fraunhofer and SYNTHIA Co-Chair, was recently featured in an interview with Deutschlandfunk, Germany’s national public radio broadcaster.
In the programme Computer und Kommunikation of 20 September 2025, Prof. Fröhlich discussed the growing role of AI-based synthetic patient data in healthcare. He explained how generative technologies can create realistic datasets while preserving patient privacy, a concept central to the mission of SYNTHIA. Key themes of the interview included:
- The potential of synthetic data for privacy-compliant data sharing
- Addressing underrepresentation in clinical datasets
- Supporting "what-if" scenarios in research
- Using synthetic data to build control arms for clinical trials
