We are pleased to share that the SYNTHIA project has been featured in the Spring 2025 edition of SIGNA Pulse of MR, GE Healthcare's flagsip publication. The article spotlights GE Healthcare's involvement as a key partner in SYNTHIA and highlights our shared mission to advance artificial intelligence in medical imaging.
The article is titled "In Partnership with EU Consortium, GE Healthcare to Advance AI" and emphasizes the central role that access to data plays in the development of AI-based healthcare solutions, and the challenges that arise due to data privacy, ethical constraints, and regulatory barriers. These barriers often limit access to real-world patient data, slowing innovation. SYNTHIA provides a powerful response to this challenge by enabling the generation of synthetic datasets that mimic real clinical data while protecting patient privacy. This approach offers new potential to overcome data scarcity, reduce bias, and improve the generalizability of AI models.
GE HealthCare is the SYNTHIA Industry Lead and IISLaFe (Instituto de Investigacion Sanitaria La Fe) is the SYNTHIA Academic Lead. The article also highlights the close collaboration between GE HealthCare’s research teams, especially in MR and women's health, and partners from academia and industry. The European GE MR team, for instance, is focusing on advancing breast cancer imaging through synthetic data.
SYNTHIA aligns strongly with GE HealthCare’s AI strategy: to accelerate patient access to precision tools, therapies, and diagnostics—while ensuring ethical, sustainable, and secure data use across Europe.
