On 1–2 October 2024, the Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) organises a workshop to examine project outcomes, challenges and opportunities related to real-world data, digital health and artificial intelligence in Europe. Participants discussed how these opportunities and challenges could be addressed within the scope of future IHI public-private projects and how they connect to the emerging European Health Data Space (EHDS).
SYNTHIA was invited to join the discussions and was represented by two of our partners:
- Dr. Guillermo Sanz, Hospital Universitari i Politècnic la Fe - SYNTHIA Project Coordinator
- Henri Souchay, GE Healthcare - SYNTHIA Project Lead
The workshop focuses on several key objectives, including:
- The patient perspective: engaging patients from the beginning to the end of a project to ensure meaningful outcomes.
- Real-world data and AI as game changers: enabling faster and more precise diagnostics, safer medicines, and improved clinical trials.
- Trust and legitimacy: ensuring transparency, quality and responsible use of health data.
- Standards and interoperability: harmonising data to maximise its value and impact.
- Public-private partnerships: fostering collaboration to accelerate innovation, inform regulation, and sustain project results.
