On 23-27 October 2026, SYNTHIA will be represented at ESMO 2026 in Madrid, Spain contributing to discussions on how European research and innovation can translate into meaningful improvements in personalised oncology and patient care.

SYNTHIA Partner Adrián Galiana Bordera from Health Research Institute Hospital La Fe is presenting about SYNTHIA during the session “Research Has to Reach Claudia: From European Projects to a Working Patient Pathway”, taking place on 23 October from 15:15 to 16:45 as part of the International Alliance for Personalised Medicine (IAPM) Policy Meeting, “Personalised Oncology Across Health Systems – Claudia's Journey: From Diagnosis to Measurable Access”.

The session will bring together representatives from five European initiatives, SYNTHIA, iBeChange, BRECISE, SPARC and ON-COME, to explore a central question: What changes for patients, and what needs to happen for research innovations to become part of routine clinical care? Adrián will share SYNTHIA's perspective on the potential of synthetic health data to support the development and validation of AI-driven healthcare applications, contributing to the broader discussion on bridging the gap between research, innovation and real-world patient benefits.

IAPM: Connecting European Research with Patient-Centred Healthcare Innovation

Turning advances in personalised medicine into tangible benefits for patients requires collaboration across research initiatives, healthcare professionals, policymakers and other stakeholders. The IAPM Personalised Oncology Implementation Meeting provides an opportunity to explore how European initiatives can contribute to more integrated, accessible and effective patient pathways, moving beyond research outcomes towards practical implementation across health systems.

For SYNTHIA, participating in these discussions is particularly relevant as the project works to advance the responsible generation and use of synthetic health data, supporting AI innovation across six disease areas, includinglung cancer, breast cancer, multiple myeloma and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. By exchanging experiences with complementary initiatives, SYNTHIA aims to contribute to a shared understanding of how research and innovation can better respond to clinical needs and ultimately improve patient care.

SYNTHIA Partner Denis Horgan from EAPM, initiated the ESMO2026 session and also serves as Secretary General of IAPM.
